What exactly is Cyclesummit?
In the first line Cyclesummit is a conference for cycle tour operators that are interested to meet each other, to discuss their business area, to do networking, and at least to create cooperation for new sustainable businesses.
Cyclesummit is framed by a fair where the participants present their companies and services to each other and several expert talks, workshops and presentations.
Who is going to be at Cyclesummit?
Of course there are a lot of cycle tour operators! But there are also surrounding companies like manufacturers, tourist destination marketing organizations and other institutions who are interested to get in touch with the core of cycle tourism.

Why should I talk about my „business secrets“ with my competitors? How could this make sense?
Cyclesummit does create an openness that makes it easy for everybody to learn from the ideas of others. Most of the participants live and sell quite far away and thus they will never threaten your business. So we believe you might be interested to share and gain knowledge in such an open space as Cyclesummit is providing and creating to the market. So this is mostly a win-win to everybody. It is very inspiring, believe us.
You are a DMO. What benefit does Cyclesummit provide for you?
At Cyclesummit you can meet a lot of tour operators who are looking for new destinations. Tell them why they should operate in your area, present your cycle tours and bicycle paths to them and invite them to your place. Talk with the market about your strengths and listen to its answer.
Your presence at Cyclesummit could have much more impact on reaching your goals then any print advertising campaign.

Do your products address tour operators? Then just come by and present your range to them at your own booth. Some participants own more then 1.000 bikes that have to be maintained and regularly renewed. Meet decision makers in a casual environment, ask them about their own and their customers’ demands and convince them to make business with you.

Once you decide to cooperate with your competitors you can be sure that it will cost a lot of time and money visiting almost every small and large bike tour operator world wide, convincing them to talk with you, sharing your experience and ideas and getting their insight in return. So we started Cyclesummit to make everybody come to one place at one time and thus to reduce the number of travels necessary.
What is on the agenda for the workshops in 2012?
We try to make everybody bring their route description, information material, maps, cues sheets and so on. We put it on a big table and discuss good ideas. And there are many new good ideas for every single one of us. So every one will win more than they will lose. And the ones that win the most? The customers!
Second we would like to talk about several tools that improve service and cut costs. Dynamically printed personalized route description, automatic map creation with openstreetmap data with personal rendering, software features that please hotels, software features that detect and cut peaks.

Who organizes the Cyclesummit?
In 2008 Peter Eich who set up two successful bicycle tour operators (Islandhopping and Radweg-Reisen) got the idea to organize a conference for tour operators. In 2012 Cyclesummit takes place for the 4th time.
The local company Bodensee-Tourismus Service handles the organizational parts of the conference.
