In March 2016 the seventh CycleSummit travelled to the south-east of Spain. Tour operators and destinations met in the city of Murcia, rode along the Segura river and on the Vía Verde del Noroeste – and discovered a region that offers sunshine for cycling while much of Europe is still in winter.

Day by day
The first participants explored Murcia by bike along the Segura river in the late afternoon, followed by the welcome dinner in the city.
A day in the saddle: the group rode the Vía Verde del Noroeste, a former railway line with tunnels, through fields and vineyards of the Murcian hinterland – with lunch along the way.
A paella cooked at the table for lunch, and in the evening a guided walk through the old town – from the cathedral square to the Teatro Romea.
Presentations and an open-air workshop on the hotel terrace rounded off the programme. [Heiko: speakers and topics.]
