About the company
Ferula Viaggi / Slow Italy Tours is a tour operator founded in 2002, based in Matera and specializing in active holidays in Basilicata and Puglia. Bike Basilicata is our brand dedicated to cycling tours (www.bikebasilicata.it). We also run a bike shop with more than 230 bikes available for rent. We offer nine standard tours but have more than 150 daily routes that we can combine into tailor-made itineraries. Additionally, we provide walking tours and a wide range of food experiences to enrich our tours (www.slowitalytours.it).
Regions & tours
Basilicata is a small and authentic region of Southern Italy, perfect for challenge cycling with many secondary roads and no traffic. Puglia is easier to cycle, perfect for leisure cycling, and surrounded by the sea. All our tours are starting or stopping in Matera where our head quarter is located. Grande Puglia is our favourite tour, 13 days from Trani to Lecce with stops in Matera, Alberobello and Otranto: a full immersion in the Heel of the Boot. We also feature our Basilicata Coast to Coast, The Last Untouched Italy. This itinerary is designed for cyclists who crave the rare luxury of profound silence and the physical triumph that only grand climbs can provide.
