Since 2012, Cicloaustral Chile is a 15 years trusted DMC for cycle tourism in Chilean Patagonia, welcoming thousands of cyclists to the legendary 1,247 km Carretera Austral. We specialize in tailor-made and scheduled guided tours, self-guided cycling holidays, and flexible bike rentals. Our fleet of 100 gravel, MTB, and e-bikes, together with our own vehicles, bike trailers, and logistics infrastructure, enables reliable operations in one of the world's most remote cycling destinations. Co-founders Claudia Huepe, Professor of Ecotourism, promotes women's cycling and personalized logistics, while Fernando Padilla, joining the Cycle summit has Master in Tourism & Hospitality in Japan, and contributes with research in cycle tourism transformative experience and the cycle market in Patagonia. Inspired by sustainable tourism, slow and adventure travel, and community partnerships, our team craft memorable cycling experiences for FITs, groups, and international tour operators.
Regions & tours
The Carretera Austral is Chile's iconic 1,247 km (775 mi) cycling route through the Los Lagos and Aysén regions of Patagonia. Connecting 20 villages from Puerto Montt to Villa O'Higgins, the route is 60% paved and 40% gravel, traversing the Route of Parks past the ancient Alerce forests of Pumalín Douglas Tompkins National park, the hanging glacier of Queulat NP, the Cerro Castillo NP pass, the turquoise waters of General Carrera Lake, panoramic views of the Northern Patagonian Icefield, and the vast Patagonian steppe of Patagonia NP. The cycling season runs from October to April, with peak travel in January and February. Its remoteness, ever-changing weather, ferry crossings, and limited services make local expertise essential. Our signature journeys combine good-quality bikes, bilingual guides, riding and vehicle support teams, Starlink connectivity, scenic picnic lunches in spectacular remote settings, and authentic encounters with locals.
