In 2007, after embarking on a two-year journey around the world, the founders, Taku and Shiho, made a decision to relocate from Tokyo to the Hida region. They chose to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle in the countryside, opting for the tranquility of rural living over the hustle of city life.
SATOYAMA EXPERIENCE was founded in 2010 with the mission of providing support to travelers in search of authentic and unique experiences in Takayama, Japan's picturesque countryside. Our range of services, including guided tours and accommodations, is thoughtfully designed to facilitate meaningful connections between travelers and local residents. On TripAdvisor, we've received over 1,000 comments from satisfied guests, with an average rating of 5.0.

We conduct cycling tours that span 14 different rural areas across Japan. We are the sole company with bases in these rural areas, and our tours are exclusively organized and operated by Japanese cyclists.
