TRAP Reizen (since 2013): cycling holidays with special routes and special accommodations, is a subsidiary of the long-established STAP Reizen (since 1994) for individual walking holidays, offers a number of beautiful and comfortable long-distance cycle routes in Italy, Austria and France. Not only do TRAP Reizen's cycle routes and accommodations offer a special experience, but each trip also offers the opportunity to get to know the region in a special way. For example, a cooking course in Apulia, a day trip on the Venetian lagoon or a guided bike tour in or around Rome. Every TRAP trip has something extra to offer that makes it worthwhile to extend the trip by 1 or 2 days of your choice. The tours are designed for those who want to discover a region or a country in a relaxed and comfortable way by bicycle, taking their own luggage with them. When booking a “Giro”, it is also possible to have the luggage transported and carry only the essentials on the bike. The cycle routes follow separate cycle paths as much as possible, following rivers and valleys. Climbs are therefore limited and gradual. The well-documented day trips of up to 5 hours, are suitable for the average leisure cyclist. In the evening, cyclists can enjoy a well-deserved rest in comfortable, small and authentic hotels, agriturismo's or B&Bs selected by TRAP Reizen, which offer the best of the region and sometimes a good dinner is included. All accommodations offered by TRAP Reizen have been selected and tested by TRAP staff. Important criteria for the selection are a good location in relation to the cycle route, preferably with a nice view. We also pay attention to comfort. TRAP Reizen concentrates on small accommodations where owners take good care of the guests - sometimes even culinary pampering from breakfast to dinner, often with local products and specially prepared by the hosts themselves. For us, a friendly, personal approach is essential. We have worked with most of the hoteliers for years, some of whom are active cyclists or walkers and have extensive knowledge of the area. Most of the hoteliers already know our clients and are happy to welcome them as guests. All rooms have an ensuite shower or bathroom. If the rooms do not have a balcony, they should have a garden with comfortable seating. A comfortable lounge is not a requirement, but is appreciated, as is a swimming pool. New TRAP routes are always explored by one of our regular staff. They check the routes, experience the accommodation and take the best photos and videos. In this way they provide up-to-date information on all TRAP routes. TRAP Reizen is supported by a permanent group of volunteers who check existing routes and create new ones. The existing TRAP routes are checked every 2-3 years by TRAP staff and this team of volunteers. Most of them have a geographical or archaeological background. For some tours, TRAP Reizen can arrange bike hire through several reliable Italian partners in each region. They ensure that excellent bikes (including e-bikes) are available at the first hotel of the trip. At the end of the trip the bike can be returned to the last hotel. The information package consists of well-known and proven cycling guides, a detailed map and a GPS track that will take you to the door of your accommodation.
