Romagna, by bike.

In 2017 CycleSummit came to Cesenatico on the Adriatic coast of Emilia-Romagna – the town of Marco Pantani and of the Gran Fondo Nove Colli. Hosts were the region Emilia-Romagna and Terrabici, the association of bike hotels and incoming tour operators specialised in services for cyclists.

Five days with a pre-programme in Rimini, a Sunday ride from Faenza to Brisighella with olive oil and ceramics, evenings in Cesenatico’s museums and two marketplace days at the Grand Hotel Da Vinci. A big thank you to Bikesplus / Cycle Europe – Monica Price and Silvia Leoni – for the great organisation.

From the coast into the hills.

Friday · Oct

Pre-programme in Rimini

The first participants arrived via Bologna airport and met at the Oxygen Hotel in Rimini for dinner with a presentation of the region and the Terrabici consortium.

Saturday · Oct

Workshop, ride and Spazio Pantani

A workshop with selected local cycling providers, lunch and a ride through the surrounding hills organised by APT Servizi, the Emilia-Romagna tourist board – then a private bus to the Grand Hotel Da Vinci in Cesenatico. In the evening all participants met at the Spazio Pantani museum for a guided visit in English, offered by the town council, followed by the welcome dinner at Cenacolo.

From Faenza to Brisighella

A transfer took the group to Faenza, the start of the Sunday tour to Brisighella – on titanium road bikes or e-bikes – with a visit to an olive oil producer and lunch on the way.

Back in Faenza the group visited a ceramics atelier, followed by a typical dinner before the transfer back to Cesenatico.

Marketplace day 1 and Museo della Marineria

The official start of the conference: a networking session and 1:1 meetings at the Grand Hotel Da Vinci, a buffet lunch and a presentation of the Gran Fondo Nove Colli. Before dinner at Titon, a guided visit in English took the group through the Museo della Marineria, Cesenatico’s maritime museum.

Marketplace day 2

Panel discussions and peer-to-peer groups – including workshops on the exchange of marketing ideas and the customer journey – a buffet lunch and the closing ceremony.
