Event recap · CycleSummit 2018
6–9 October 2018 · Veluwe (NL)
The 9th CycleSummit brought the international cycling travel community to the Veluwe – voted the finest area of scenic beauty in the Netherlands, with forests, heathland and sand drifts, Hanseatic towns, Paleis Het Loo and the Kröller-Müller Museum with the second-largest Van Gogh collection in the world.
Together with VisitVeluwe and Dutch Biketours, the summit combined a cycling day through the National Park Hoge Veluwe and Nijmegen, an evening with the regional partners, a dinner at Doorwerth Castle and two marketplace days at Hotel Bilderberg in Oosterbeek.

Day by day
Participants arrived by train from Amsterdam Schiphol, were picked up in Arnhem and met for a walking tour through the city and dinner at Restaurant Dudok.
A bus took the group to Ede, where the bikes were waiting for a ride along the National Park Hoge Veluwe to the Kröller-Müller Museum and a special Van Gogh lunch.
The second part of the tour led 18 km from Ressen through the city of Nijmegen to the wine village of Groesbeek for a tasting of Dutch wines and cheese.
Back at Hotel Bilderberg about ten regional organisations presented their services in elevator pitches, followed by drinks and a buffet dinner hosted by the Veluwe.
After the opening ceremony and keynotes on the Dutch cycling network by the Dutch Cycling Platform and Routebureau Veluwe, and a presentation of tourism in Gelderland, the marketplace opened. In the evening an aperitif by VisitVeluwe and dinner at Doorwerth Castle.
The second marketplace day, lunch in “Julia’s Kitchen” – and the end of CycleSummit 2018, followed by one-day FamTrips through different parts of Holland.
