Ten summits later, on Bike Island Fyn.

The 10th CycleSummit came to Nyborg on Funen – Denmark’s first capital, “the heart of the Kingdom of Denmark”, and part of Bike Island Fyn, awarded UCI Bike Region in 2017 for its 1,200 km of signposted cycle routes, its 96 islands and 123 castles and manor houses.

Together with Destination Fyn and Danish Biking as event coordinator, the summit combined a ride from Egeskov Castle to Svendborg, a medieval pub crawl, an evening along the Baltic Sea Route N8, a whisky and rum tasting at Nyborg Destilleri and two marketplace days with keynote and workshops.

Arrival and beach BBQ

Buses brought participants from Copenhagen airport and city centre to the Sinatur Hotel Storebælt in Nyborg, where the official welcome to Fyn was a dinner and BBQ at the beach.

From Egeskov Castle to Svendborg

After breakfast a bus took everyone to Egeskov Castle – 500 years old, with one of Europe’s finest historic gardens – for a short tour, bike fitting and the start of the ride to Svendborg, with lunch at Hotel Christiansminde.

Medieval pub crawl and the N8

Back in Nyborg the group explored the old royal town on a medieval pub crawl. In the evening representatives of the Baltic Sea Route N8 – Denmark’s longest official cycle route – invited to a culinary journey along the route.

Marketplace day 1

After the opening ceremony and a presentation of Bike Island Fyn, the keynote by Fitz Tours – “Less is more: simplify to grow” – opened the marketplace. Workshops by Ride with GPS and Webmapp (MyEasyRoute) introduced digital solutions for tour operators.

A guided tour, a whisky and rum tasting and dinner at the Nyborg Destilleri.

Marketplace day 2

The second marketplace day with a workshop by Printmaps, lunch – and the departures to the FamTrips across Fyn and to Copenhagen airport.
